Natural Harmonics
Natural Harmonics are “bell-like” pitches which are produced when lightly touching the guitar string at certain frets and striking the string. These high pitched tones are often compared in timbre to a whistle or flute.
Natural Harmonics are found mainly on the 5th, 7th and 12th frets. On the 5th fret, the Harmonics produced are 2 Octaves above the Open string. On the 7th fret, they are 1 Octave above the fretted notes. And on the 12th fret, the Natural Harmonics are 1 Octave above Open.
